Bay Path and Johnson play to stalemate

Johnson, Vt.(October 4, 2008) – Johnson State College and BayPathCollegeplayed to a 1-1 tie on Saturday in non-conference women’s soccer action at Minaert Field.  JSC outshot the Wildcats 19-14 on the day but could not get a shot off in either of the two overtimes. 

Bay Path (0-6-2, 0-2-1 NECC) struck first in the 27th minute when Michelle Deyorio (Charlestown, R.I.) blasted a direct kick to the far post top corner and over the head of Badger keeper Elizabeth Wallace (Port Henry, N.Y./Moriah Central) to make it 1-0. 

The score would remain that way until Emily Hassard (Montpelier, Vt./Spaulding) placed a shot in the top right corner of the goal in the 75th minute past the extended hands of BPC keeper Samantha Gunseth (Swanzey, N.H.) to lock the game at 1-1. 

Each team would create scoring opportunities over the 35 minutes of play but each keeper would make the necessary stops to preserve the tie. 

JohnsonState(3-7-1, 0-3 NAC) will take to the road on Saturday, October 11 when they play at the University of Maine-Farmington at 1:00 pm.  Bay Path will go south to play Castleton State College tomorrow at 1:00 pm
