Wildcats fall to Eagles in field hocky action.

LONGMEADOW, Mass.—In their second meeting, Bay Path was again unable to score against Daniel Webster falling 3-0 in New England Collegiate Conference field hockey action. The Wildcats of Bay Path have only played three contests since the start of the program and two of those have been against the Eagles of Daniel Webster.
Bay Path’s sophomore goalkeeper Kim Amirault (Saugus, Mass.) suffered the loss. Amirault did however have an outstanding 18 saves for the Wildcats giving up only three goals. She faced 31 shots of which 24 were on goal for the Eagles.
The Eagles had 29 penalty corners in the game to Bay Path’s none.
Daniel Webster struck early in the 5th minute when freshman midfielder Natalie Bates (N. Kingstown, R.I) netted the first and eventual game winning goal. Her Eagles’ teammates managed to draw out Bay Path’s keeper for an open shot.
Next to score was senior forward Emily Coole (Pepperell, Mass.) in the 20th minute of play taking advantage of a saved shot by freshman teammate Heather Chaney (Jay, Maine). Coole notched her 7th goal this season.
The finale came in the 50th minute of play in the second half, when Bates again found the back of the net striking a hard shot inside. Bates now has four goals for her 2008 campaign.
Junior forward Sarah Gates (Crown Point, Ind.) prevented more scoring action by the Eagles with two defensive saves. Freshman Madeline Jones (Providence, R.I.) also pitched in a defensive save for Bay Path.
The Eagles’ keeper freshman Amy Prince (Hope Valley, R.I.) faced no shots while notching the win.
Daniel Webster is now 4-3 on the season and 3-1 in the NECC, while Bay Path falls to 0-3 both on the season and in conference play. The Wildcats will be back in action traveling to Chicopee to face Elms on Saturday, October 4th at 1:00 p.m. face off time.
