I think so many of us take communication for granted, probably because everywhere we turn someone is on a cell phone or IMing.

At Bay Path, communication is more about gaining an appreciation for connecting on different levels:  one-on-one, teams, large groups and between cultures.  Whether it's through effective writing or speaking, I'm learning how to develop a message and a position.  But that's only one side of the communication equation.  Respecting and understanding other people's point-of-view is equally important.  As a professor stated in one my classes, "We have to agree to disagree." I know when we don't have openness communication fails, and that's valuable knowledge I can apply to my career or my life.  And there's one other thing I've discovered at Bay Path—I'm not just learning how to communicate in the workplace or the community.  I'm learning how to communicate across the globe.

Jin Sun is a business major, and, as an active concert violist at the College, communicates through the universal language of music.
