Stephanie A. Werbiskis, MS, CPA, is an instructor of the Professional Financial Planning Online Certificate Program at Bay Path College. In this role, she facilitates courses related to income taxation and estate planning concepts, using a tools and techniques approach, while integrating her professional experience. She currently serves as a tax manager for Kostin, Ruffkess & Company, P.C. in Springfield, MA.
At Kostin, Ruffkess & Company, P.C., she manages tax engagements for enterprises with international, multi-state, and consolidated issues; performs comprehensive tax compliance, planning, and research for closely-held businesses, high net-worth individuals, trusts and estates; and consults on review and compilation engagements including assistance with fieldwork, research, and preparation of financial statements. She also enhances engagement performance and profitability through effective supervision of staff, development and execution of schedules, timely billing, and full utilization of computer resources; provides technical assistance for tax preparers and staff on specific tax issues; and develops and presents internal, tax-related continuing professional education, including annual tax updates and tax procedural training.
Werbiskis has held senior-level positions in several local firms throughout her career. Prior to joining Kostin, Ruffkess & Company, P.C., Werbiskis served as a controller for Kent Pecoy & Sons Construction, Inc. in West Springfield, MA, and performed all controller and chief financial officer functions. She was instrumental in integrating policies and operating procedures for construction, land development, sales, and accounting departments, and created a central file system to coordinate efforts of all departments involved in customer contract management. Werbiskis also established an accounting department and supervised, reviewed, and trained accounting staff, and spearheaded the implementation of construction accounting technology to improve efficiencies and create consistent applications of procedures.
A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, Werbiskis received her master’s degree in accounting from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and her bachelor’s degree in business management with a concentration in accounting from Elms College in Chicopee.
