Profile

Dr. Sugarman brings a strong appreciation for learning, research, and travel to the Bay Path community through her varied background, which was formed both in the United States and Europe. As a higher educational professional of nine years, Dr. Sugarman has a wide range of expertise in liberal arts, leadership theory, learning communities, social justice, cultural studies, philosophy, qualitative research, and organizational behavior.

Dr. Sugarman’s research has largely centered on building and sustaining learning communities in distance and hybrid nontraditional postsecondary education environments. Prior to joining Bay Path College, she served as the Director of Lifelong Learning for Union Institute & University.

Dr. Sugarman earned a Master of Science degree from the London School of Economics and went on to become Marketing Director with Altadis, a French corporation based in the UK. Returning to the U.S., Dr. Sugarman obtained her EdD in Higher Education at Union Institute and University.

Dr. Sugarman comes to Bay Path’s Burlington campus from Brattleboro, VT. Her interests include 19th century literature, ice-skating, Greek mythology, scuba diving, and travel.
