Profile

Professor Kara Stevens brings to the classroom over a decade of hands-on experience in the accounting field, including a regional public accounting firm, a medium-sized publically traded manufacturing company, and a large nonprofit. She has also had positions that have been on both sides of the accounting equation: as an auditor reviewing the financial health of companies, and a financial analyst maintaining and overseeing accounting practices within legal and ethical boundaries. This background provides Professor Stevens with insights and perspectives on the unique accounting needs and regulations for a variety of organizations and companies that proves invaluable to her students.
A certified public accountant, Professor Stevens has worked for Wolf and Company, P.C., (recognized as one of the Top Firms in Accounting by Accounting Today) and achieved the position of Commercial Audit Supervisor. Combining a high level of financial knowledge and accounting regulations, she also was responsible for mentoring and developing staff to the highest of standards.
A graduate of the University of Massachusetts/Amherst earning both her bachelor’s degree in accounting and her MBA, Professor Stevens has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate level. She is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants, American institute of Certified Public Accountants, Young Professional Society, and also on the Board of Directors/ Treasurer for Dress for Success/ Western Massachusetts.
