Hsiang-Ching Kung, PhD, is assistant professor of chemistry at Bay Path College. He teaches general chemistry, organic chemistry, and forensic chemistry. Dr. Kung brings over 20 years of work experience in the research and development of paper and chemical industry to his courses at Bay Path.
Prior to joining Bay Path in September 2004, Kung served as research and development director, senior research scientist and other various positions in the research and development departments of several major national and international companies based in the U.S. His areas of expertise include leuco dye synthesis, pulp and paper making, coating formulations for thermal-sensitive paper, ink-jet paper, and non-impact printing papers.
Kung’s research interests are in the separation and identification of chemicals of forensic significance and synthesis of industrial chemicals and natural products. He is a member of the American Chemical Society. He is also the inventor of several patents on ion-deposition printing papers.
Specializing in organic chemistry and natural product synthesis, Kung completed his graduate study in organic chemistry at Bonn University in Germany, and he received his doctorate in organic chemistry from State University of New York at Buffalo.
