SPE 548 — Reading and Language for ELL Learners

This course is designed to introduce the developing teacher to reading instruction and the development of a reading/writing community in English for English language learners. Students develop a set of clear principles and strategies for literacy instruction, examine approaches and practices for developing reading skills and reading comprehension, including strategies for developing English vocabulary and learning approaches for using writing in mainstream and sheltered content classrooms.
