MBA 630 — Legal Issues in Business

This course is designed to provide students with a fundamental understanding of how business decisions affect society from four main perspectives: legal, economic, historical and political. Students learn how the legal system functions in order to help them become effective business planners and responsible managers. Topics include the law of contracts, torts, product liability, tax law, securities law for public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, employment law and bankruptcy law. Students learn how the various methods of dispute resolution, including litigation and arbitration, affect business planning. Special attention is given to the ethical and social responsibilities of decision-making.
