FSC 625 — Advanced Microscopy

Forensic Science

3 Credits

This course provides an in-depth examination of the theory and practical application of various types of microscopy methodologies used in forensics and other laboratory sciences, including scanning electron, light, fluorescence, and polarizing microscopy. Micro-FTIR and microspectrophotometry will also be discussed. The course consists of laboratory exercises and demonstrations that examine the application of microscopy to forensic biology, firearms examinations, trace evidence, documents, and controlled substances.
