This course will explore the current thinking of criminal justice theory, policy, and practice. It will distinguish between formal legal and judicial procedure and informal discretionary decision making that occurs in public service agencies, policing, and within the courts and correctional system. Emphasis will be placed on the mission and role of the police, courts, and corrections in our society.
